The mammalian TRP channel superfamily includes nearly 30 members which are distributed in several subfamilies: TRPC (classic or canonical), TRPV (vanilloid), TRPM (melastatin), TRPA (ankyrin), TRPP (polycistin), and TRPML (mucolipin).
